Our backpacker pitches at the Rivers Edge are specifically designed for solo travellers with small, one-person tents. These pitches cater to backpackers passing through who need a simple, convenient overnight stop rather than a family camping holiday or extended stay.

If you’re looking for a quick, camping-style break with minimal fuss, our pitches offer the perfect spot to clean up, dine and rest.

Please note, these pitches are not suitable for any tents larger than 2 meters x 2 meters or group camping setups, they are purely for solo travellers passing through the area.

Midway stopover
Owner very welcoming and helpful. Pitches well kept and level, very handy facilities back of pub, both indoor and outdoor eating areas depending on weather. Nice and quiet to relax onsite. Good for walkers and bikers, need a car to get around or there is a bus stop close by to visit surrounding area.

Great site
Lovely site friendly staff amenities clean and the showers are lovely and warm. We do wonder how people who stay manage in peak times as there are a lot of pitches quite close to each other accepting tents campers caravans and Motorhome but only 3 male and 3 female showers. We did ask for a pitch near to the amenities which the staff arranged for us thank you. We did have two campersparked on our right side and a Motorhome parked length ways to the front of our van which did feel a bit closed in. But on the whole we had a great stay and would book again but at the end of the season when quieter. Just a quickone the Duke of Edinburgh lads and girls were friendly respectful pleasant and cheerful lovely bunch

Booking Cancellation Policy

Standard rate - Changes and cancellations to bookings made up to 5 days prior to arrival are without charge.
Bookings cancelled within the5 days before arrival will be charged a non-refundable cancellation fee of First nights stay.
Non-Refundable - No changes to, or cancellation of bookings are accepted. Refunds are 100% not available.

Group Bookings

Unfortunately, we can no longer take group bookings from anyone other than organisations and affiliates whereby we have prior arrangements or agreements.

Our definition of group booking consists of multiple friends or relatives (more than two pitches booked) joining us for a stay where they may congregate or gather for celebrations or get togethers, in our experience this has a huge impact on other guests and our ability to maintain a peaceful and calm environment.

If you are unsure by this term then please do get in touch where we can explain both our terms and also the rational behind this new addition as we will be policing this policy strongly going forward.

General Park Rules

Please read before booking your wonderful stay with us so that you can be made fully aware of our common sense approach to operating a holiday park, many of the rules are common sense focussed as you will no doubt agree.

- No fire pits or campfires are permitted in any circumstance.

- BBQ's are permitted providing they are totally off the ground and represent no danger or hazard to either you or your fellow holiday guests. Damaged grounds and/or hazards caused by hot coals or embers being disposed off pose a real danger to all so please be extra careful.

- To help both you and your fellow holiday guests enjoy the experience, we insist that noise levels are kept to a minimum from 11.00pm, failure to adhere to this will result in further action being taken which will sadly conclude in cutting short your stay with us. We truly want you to have a great time but, without impacting your fellow guests please.

- We have to insist that you are totally transparent about your accommodation size and intended occupation, we are lucky to have some extremely large spaces and also some made-to-measure locations on park, we need to know in advance so we can ensure you have the space you need to enjoy your time with us. If you are unsure about the size of your tent or motorhome then please get in touch so we can help you.

- Please remove all your belongings and waste (including tent pegs) from the location you have been enjoying using the refuse centre located at the rear of the building, please do not simply throw it in the nearby hedges or tree line. If you have any problems finding the refuse area or are struggling to remove tent pegs then please ask for assistance.

- No guests please, unless agreed prior to their arrival, in any case their vehicle will need to remain in the car park provided during their time with us.

- We are a small operation where we truly want you to enjoy as much of the space that is available, if you have chosen to arrive in your motorhome, tourer or tent which has awning or pup tents, porches and any other structure which takes up space, then we will very likely ask you to leave your car in the secure car park where we have CCTV in operation 24 hours a day. Spacing is an important safety aspect of any holiday park and we respectfully ask you to consider this when staying with us. We are happy to discuss this aspect with you at any time so please do get in touch if you are unsure.

- Our checking in times are from 1.30pm on any given day, we often need the opportunity to prepare the ground and ensure it represents our standards which only helps you further enjoy your time with us.

- Our checking out times are no later then 11.00am for the very same reason, we really don't want to introduce a fee for staying later as this just seems unfair on you so please leave on time. If however, there is an issue which may prevent this, then please talk to us and we will help whenever possible.

- We are very blessed to own the onsite venue also which does have a great selection of both food and drink for all our guests but we must remind you that it is a licensed premises and anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

- We reserve the right to refuse admission to any guest/guests.

- We reserve the right to request removal from the park at any time.

We do wander through the park regularly and we are happy to discuss any of the rules with any holiday guest at any time, please feel free to stop us and talk to us about anything! All our intentions are based on providing a safe and secure environment for all our guests and we only ask that all our guests consider both our other guests and the park owners property during their stay with us.

We absolutely love talking to our guests and are constantly seeking feedback so we can improve your stay today and in the future for all. We fully recognise that we have yet to have the perfect park with perfect facilities so there is a strong likelihood that you will encounter some kind of work in progress during your stay with us, all of which you will be notified about in advance of your booking to offer you the opportunity to change or cancel your booking should you believe our improvement plans are likely to have an impact on your stay, in our experience, we do plan the works to be carried out in non-peak times and usually without any impact to our guests stay.

As we are have an onsite venue, we do have a strong local following and we sometimes are asked to provide the venue for private functions, again we will communicate this and any possible impacts this may have on your stay.

We do have a large outside space which can be used for functions such as birthday parties, anniversaries and even charity events. This will sometimes include music and can often play until closing time of the venue (11.00pm), we are currently building a page for our website so that these functions can be advertised and our guests notified about any function to prevent any negative impact on your stay. You may even wish to book your stay to be part of certain events or functions and this too is absolutely fine, your enjoyment of the park is our priority during your stay so we recognise fully that communication of any events or functions is paramount.
